Verdwaalde gans asked me last week if I knew Fanfare Ciocorlia. If my database had worked normally, I would have answered that affirmatively. And I will probably come back on them later.
At the moment, I am more intrigued by the Balkan brass of the Serbian Boban Markovic Orkestar. Especially by the hypnotic quality of the song Otpisani [link in left column].
Because I thought it was a surf song.
Turns out, the world famous Bitch Boys from Slovenia have made it into a surf melody. Otpisani actually is the title of a 1970’s Yugoslavian movie and TV-series about a resistance group that fought the Nazi’s.
